Manque de présence et explosion de sensorialité dans la communication contemporaine : une sémiotique des « gastromanies » à partir d’À rebours.
현대 사회의 특징 중 하나는 먹거리에 대한 심각한 집착이다. 이러한 집착은 어디서 유래하는 것인가? 본 논문은 이에 대한 해답을 현대 텍스트가 아닌 19세기말 프랑스 작가 조리스-칼 위스망스의 『거꾸로』(1884)에서 찾으려 한다. 이 작품의 분석을 통해서 현대의 신경증들에 대한 성찰의 단초를 찾고 특히 음식과 관련한 기호학적 접근을 시도하고자 한다. 『거꾸로』의 중심 주제는 실존적 공허이다. 이 실존적 공허를 어떻게 채울 것인가? 어떤 방법으로 더 이상 실존적 의미를 부여할 전통적인 보호망이 없는 이 시대에 살아가는 의미를 부여할 것인가? 더 이상 삶에 의미가 없기에, 이 작품에서는 감각들에 의해, 감각작용들에 의해 그 빈곳을 채우고자 한다. 점점 더 복잡해져가는 온갖 전략과 상품과 술수가 난무한다. 향수, 옷감, 서적, 그림은 물론 특히 한 장에서는 음식을 통해서 주인공 데제셍트가 삶의 공허함을 채우고자 한다. 그 음식 메뉴에서 우리가 추출할 수 있는 것은 무엇인가? 이국적인 것에 대한 집착, 민속적인 것에 대한 집착, 순수한 것에 대한 집착. 이러한 분석은 지금 우리가 먹거리에 대해 지니고 있는 신경증적 집착에 대해 흥미로운 관점을 제공해 준다.
Lack of presence and sensory explosion in contemporary communication : a semiotics of "gastromanies" from the Grain.
One knows the story of Against the Grain: the fundamental thematic crux of the book is the existential vacuum; how to fill the existential void; how to give meaning to life at a time when there are more traditional safety nets to give this meaning to existence. Since there is no meaning in life, we try to supplement it by the senses, sensations, and chapters of the book are only a row through all the senses, exposed to products , strategies, expedients and preparations of increasing sophistication: perfumes, fabrics, but also books, paintings, and finally a special chapter on dishes through which Esseintes tries to fill the existential void. What recipes can we learn from the Grain? The obsession with the exotic. the "folk" obsession, the obsession with purity, that three recipes that offer us an amused look on contemporary and fun food neuroses.
