춘천의 극장에서 영화보기 : 관람 양상의 다양성(1960, 70년대)
본 연구는 1960-70년대에도 한국의 관객은 다양한 방식으로 영화를 관 람했다고 보고 이를 춘천 영화관객을 통해 확인하려 한다. 춘천은 미군 주둔지이자 강원도청 소재지이기에 여러 특징을 지닌 지역들로 구분되어 있었고 1970년대 중반의 본격적인 TV 보급 이전까지 영화 흥행업이 성황 을 이루어 다양한 성격의 여러 영화관들이 들어서서 영화관람의 다양성을 살펴보기 좋은 지역이다. 구체적으로는 영화관이 위치한 춘천 특정 지역 의 특성이 상영·관람환경과 관객의 영화관람에 끼친 영향, 이로 인해 성 립한 다양한 영화관람 양상에 대해 살펴보려 한다. 특히 당시의 억압적 독재체제 하에서도 관객은 산만하게 영화를 관람하면서 사회질서로부터 일탈할 수 있었던 것에 주목할 것이다. 영화관람 양상의 다양함을 통해 영화연구는 영화텍스트 중심의 연구 방식에서 벗어나 상영환경과 관객의 수용양상까지 시야에 넣어야 함도 말하고자 한다.
Filmgoing in Chuncheon : Focused on Diversity of Watching Movies
This study aims to discuss the various ways of filmgoing of the audience residing in Chuncheon under the assumption that the Korean film audience watched movies in various ways even in the 1960s and 1970s. During the Cold War, the U.S. military base and Gangwon Provincial Office were located in Chuncheon, dividing the region into districts with different features. Moreover, Chuncheon was a region appropriate for examining the diversity of filmgoing, since movie theaters with different characteristics were built in the area in the mid-1970s due to the prosperity of the movie industry before the spread of television. This study specifically focuses on the influence of the regional characteristics of Chuncheon, where movie theaters were located, on the screening and viewing environment and the filmgoing of the audience and the various aspects of filmgoing established by these influences. In particular, this study focuses on how the film audience, under the oppressive order of the Cold War and dictatorship, threw down social order by showing discursive behaviors while watching movies. Furthermore, this study suggests that film studies should break away from study methods merely centered on movie text and include the screening environment and the acceptance patterns of the audience through the examination of various filmgoing aspects.
